문의내용:

The transmission system operator is Red Eléctrica de España (REE) and the wholesale electricity market operator is Operador del Mercado Ibérico de Energía - Polo Español, S.A. Figure 6 Various transmission line supports. The Hindu Business Line. The line is assumed to be a reciprocal, symmetrical network, meaning that the receiving and sending labels can be switched with no consequence. Companies like Solar City, and arguably Tesla with their ‘supercharger’ network, are attempting to become distributed utilities, taking the load off the national networks. Superconducting cables are particularly suited to high load density areas such as the business district of large cities, where purchase of an easement for cables is costly. Like transmission, subtransmission moves relatively large amounts of power, and like distribution, subtransmission covers an area instead of just point-to-point. We have the potential to build lots of tidal power, but to meet targets we need to be utilising 1000km of coastline for it.

We have wind turbines, but to meet the government targets of having a significant proportion of our energy generated by wind in 2030, we need to build 60,000 of them. China however is tackling this by apparently building 100 reactors by 2030, all to very similar specifications, a process that will benefit them hugely due to economies of scale. The technology might not be quite there yet, but the research is being done and it will be possible. There is however a problem with this in the UK, and possibly in many other countries, and that is that our ’last mile’, the cables that get energy to homes, just aren’t built for it. There are different types of Ethernet cables available in the market in different colors. Some types of primary batteries used, for example, for telegraph circuits, were restored to operation by replacing the electrodes. Of the nearly three billion batteries purchased annually in the United States, about 179,000 tons end up in landfills across the country. It’s costing £1 billion for the cable alone, and we’re not quite sure yet whether it’s going to work. In many ways it’s just still an immature industry. Coal plants churn out carbon dioxide in vast quantities, and are even more radioactive than nuclear plants, but lack of public understanding means they are more popular still and therefore it may well be political suicide to throw your weight behind nuclear power.

That means shutting down coal fired power plants, reducing our gas usage, and moving to cleaner sources such as wind, solar, wave, geothermal, and dare I say it, nuclear. What we need is an international grid, that countries can trade power over, so that we can generate vast amounts of solar energy in the Sahara Desert, wind energy in the North Sea, hydro-electric power in the mountains of Scandinavia, and so on. To solve these problems though, we need the energy companies and the government to work together. We need to buy electric cars. Once we have solved this problem, we need to get the power from where it’s generated to everywhere else, and it’s this distribution that is as much of a problem, if not more, than generating itself. Interconnection of local generation plants and small distribution networks was spurred by World War I, when large electrical generating plants were built by governments to power munitions factories. In general, losses are estimated from the discrepancy between power produced (as reported by power plants) and power sold; the difference constitutes transmission and distribution losses, assuming no utility theft occurs.

The system proved the feasibility of AC electric power transmission over long distances. Underground power transmission has a significantly higher installation cost and greater operational limitations, but lowers maintenance costs. Unlike an aerial cable, a buried cable invariably uses commercially pure copper or aluminum (mechanical strength is not a problem underground), and the stranded conductor is frequently rolled to maximize its compactness and electrical conductance. This monitoring solution uses passive optical fibers as temperature sensors, either inside a high-voltage cable or externally mounted on the cable insulation. Conduit is often used in unfinished areas, such as basements and garages, and for short exposed runs inside the home, such as wiring connections for garbage disposers and hot water heaters. The final section of the talk was really a discussion with the audience. I’m very glad no one left after this section because if they had done they would have come away with completely the wrong impression. I have learnt masses from the comments people have left regarding this project. In echelon use of batteries, vehicle electric batteries that have their battery capacity reduced to less than 80%, usually after service of 5-8 years, are repurposed for use as backup supply or for renewable energy storage systems.
